About Lee, LMSW
Hi, I’m Lee (she/her) — a lesbian therapist/social worker based in Brooklyn. Two things I value are directness and kindness. I bring them into my practice and often use humor to neutralize work that is sensitive/activating so that we can look at it together.
My areas of expertise include dialectical thinking (holding multiple things at once/duality), relationships (specifically polyamorous/non-monogamous ones), and operating in reality, rather than assumptions.
Working with people as they learn more about themselves is incredibly meaningful to me. I do not take your vulnerability lightly and remain open to feedback in how I can better support you. TLDR: If I mess up, tell me! It’s good practice for everyone.
I work part-time at Affirmative Therapy Collective where I am supervised by Lauren Canonico, LCSW. I spend the other half of my week as a social worker in a psychiatric emergency room. My experience there includes working with folks experiencing acute psychosis, suicidal ideation, and substance induced mood/psychotic disorders.
My Clinical Experience
I received my MSW from New York University in 2017. I became passionate about public health during my clinical internships and went on to work at Rikers Island. There, I provided health education and treatment to incarcerated individuals living with infectious diseases, primarily HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C. I moved into clinical therapy via community mental health and have knowledge in CBT, parts work, child/adolescent counseling and couples counseling. I have experience in managing and responding to psychiatric emergencies, such as suicidal ideation (active and passive) and Axis I diagnoses.
My cat, Barney, who oversees my virtual sessions <3
